Every March 21st, the world celebrates individuals with Down Syndrome — and at Take Heart Foundation, we celebrate loudly and proudly

Happy World Down Syndrome Day! 💙💛

March 21st is the day we celebrate the third copy of the 21st chromosome — the little bit of EXTRA in our daughter Christina's DNA that makes her EXTRAordinary. 3️⃣2️⃣1️⃣

When Eric and I first received our prenatal diagnosis, we had so many questions without immediate answers. We had to trust God for the things we could not see and lean on the love of family and friends. What once felt like our biggest fear has become our greatest blessing.

Christina was born ready. At just 4 months old, she rolled over for the first time — and in that moment, we knew she would spend her life breaking through every label the world tried to place on her. She doesn't just enter a room. She leaves an impact.

She teaches us patience, joy, and that being different isn't something to overcome — it's something to celebrate.

Christina, you have exceeded every expectation and continue to show the world that there is greatness inside all of us, regardless of a diagnosis. We are so grateful God chose us to be your parents.

Every Chromosome Tells a Story Worth Celebrating

March 21st is World Down Syndrome Day — a globally recognized day chosen intentionally, because Down syndrome is caused by the presence of a third copy of the 21st chromosome: the 21st day of the 3rd month.

At Take Heart Foundation, this day holds a deeply personal and powerful meaning. It is a day we pause, reflect, and shout with joy for every individual whose life, laughter, and love has forever changed the world around them.

Why We Celebrate

Down Syndrome is not a limitation to be overcome — it is a unique human experience to be honored, understood, and championed. The individuals we walk alongside every day remind us that:

  • Every life has immeasurable value, regardless of ability or diagnosis

  • Inclusion is not a favor — it is a fundamental human right

  • Community changes everything — no family should walk this journey alone

  • Joy is not the absence of challenge — it is found right in the middle of it

You’re Not Alone

If you are a parent who has recently received a diagnosis, a caregiver navigating an uncertain road, or a family member searching for a community that truly gets ityou have found your community.

Take Heart Foundation exists because we believe every family deserves:

  • A soft place to land after a difficult diagnosis

  • Honest, hope-filled information and resources

  • A community of people who understand your journey

  • The confidence to advocate boldly for your child

Celebrate with Us

We have seen it time and again — one child changes a family. One family changes a community. One community changes the world.

These individuals we serve are teachers, trailblazers, and joy-bringers. They challenge outdated assumptions, expand our understanding of what it means to be human, and inspire a quality of love that is rare and remarkable.

"Take heart. The road ahead is filled with more love, more laughter, and more meaning than you can currently imagine. You were chosen for this journey — and you will not walk it alone."
